Online stores

In short

An online store is your own shop with catalogue, cart, payments and shipping. PragaWeb builds it on PrestaShop, WooCommerce, Shopify or custom code: fast, accessible and connected to inventory and invoicing.

An online store is an e-commerce site on your own domain and under your own brand, where customers find products, add them to the cart, pay and receive their goods. PragaWeb builds online stores for companies, manufacturers and retailers selling to consumers (B2C) or to other businesses (B2B), with a catalogue that is easy to manage and the behind-the-scenes processes already connected.

The goal is not just to have an online shop, but one that sells and doesn’t eat your time: orders that arrive ready to ship, up-to-date stock and invoices issued without retyping data.

When you need a new online store

  • You only sell in person, by phone or by email and want your own online channel.
  • You already have an e-commerce site, but it is slow, hard to update or awkward on mobile.
  • You handle orders, stock and invoices by hand, copying them between programs.
  • You sell on Amazon or eBay and want a direct channel with full margins and your own customer data.
  • Your business customers ask for private price lists, quick ordering and downloadable documents.
  • You need to bring your store in line with European accessibility requirements.

What we build into your online store

  • Catalogue and product pages: categories, filters, variants (sizes, colours, formats), photos and copy written for buyers and for search engines.
  • Cart and checkout: a few clear steps, guest checkout, shipping costs shown before payment.
  • Online payments: cards, Apple Pay and Google Pay through Stripe, PayPal, Satispay and bank transfer, depending on your audience.
  • Shipping and couriers: rates by zone or weight, click and collect, label creation and tracking numbers sent to the customer.
  • E-invoicing: a link to your invoicing software or management system, so correct documents are issued straight from the order.
  • Customer area and B2B: order history, quick reorder, price lists and discounts by customer group, dedicated payment terms.
  • Promotions: discount codes, time-limited offers, free shipping over a threshold, abandoned cart recovery.
  • Multiple languages and currencies: to sell abroad, with content adapted to each market.

How we build your e-commerce store

  1. Analysis: in an online call we discuss products, customers, price lists, shipping and the software you already use. We work out what the store must do on day one and what can come later.
  2. Phased proposal: we choose the platform and present a plan split into releases, with clear timing and costs for each.
  3. Structure and design: we map out purchase journeys, categories and product pages, then a design that fits your brand.
  4. Development and integrations: we set up payments, couriers, invoicing and, where needed, the link to inventory and management software.
  5. Product upload and testing: we import the catalogue and test real orders, payments, emails and returns on desktop and mobile.
  6. Go-live and growth: we publish the store, check indexing and performance, and stay on hand for improvements.

Platforms and technology for your online shop

We have no favourite platform by default: we pick the one that suits your case.

  • PrestaShop: open source, very widespread in Italy, well suited to large catalogues and B2B needs.
  • WooCommerce: a WordPress extension, ideal when content, blog and shop need to live on the same site.
  • Shopify: a subscription platform, quick to launch, with less technical upkeep on your side.
  • Custom solution: when pricing rules, configurators or processes are too specific for a standard platform.

Accessibility and the European Accessibility Act

Since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act requires many consumer-facing e-commerce services in the EU to be accessible to people with disabilities, with some exemptions for micro-enterprises. We design online stores to WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines: readable contrast, keyboard navigation, understandable forms and checkout. Find out more on our web accessibility page.

Online store timing and costs: what they depend on

The cost of an e-commerce site mainly depends on:

  • the platform and design (adapted theme or custom design);
  • the number of products, variants and price lists;
  • integrations with management software, inventory and orders, couriers and invoicing;
  • languages and markets;
  • B2B or custom features.

A store with a simple catalogue and standard integrations usually takes a few weeks; projects with many integrations or custom development take a few months, split into phases you can already use along the way.

Why choose PragaWeb for your online store

  • One point of contact: one person follows the project from analysis to support.
  • Your store, your data: code, catalogue, customers and orders belong to you.
  • Speed and accessibility as standard: they are not extras but part of the project, together with baseline technical SEO.
  • Ready to grow: when you want to sell on Amazon or eBay too, marketplace integration plugs into the same catalogue.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to open an online store?

A store with a simple catalogue and standard integrations usually takes a few weeks. If you need links to management software, B2B features or custom development, it can take a few months, split into releasable phases.

PrestaShop, WooCommerce or Shopify: which is best?

It depends on the project. PrestaShop suits large catalogues and B2B, WooCommerce works well if you want content and shop on the same WordPress site, and Shopify suits you if you prefer a subscription platform with less upkeep. We recommend one after the analysis.

Does my online store have to be accessible by law?

Since 28 June 2025 the European Accessibility Act covers many consumer-facing e-commerce services, with some exemptions for micro-enterprises. We check your situation with you and design the store to WCAG 2.1 AA either way.

What do I need to prepare?

Your product list with prices and variants, photos, terms of sale and shipping, and access to the services you already use, such as management or invoicing software. If copy or photos are missing, we can take care of them.

Can I run the store myself after delivery?

Yes. You get an admin panel to update products, prices, orders and promotions, and we show you how to use it. For technical updates and security you can rely on our maintenance service.
