PragaWeb

Cookie policy

The PragaWeb website only uses technical tools: no profiling or analytics cookies and no external content loaded when you open a page.

This cookie policy explains which cookies and similar technologies the website www.pragaweb.net uses. In short: the website uses no profiling or analytics cookies and loads no third-party content when you open a page. It only uses technical tools that it needs in order to work.

What cookies are

Cookies are small text files that a website stores in your browser to remember certain information, for example that you have signed in to a private area. There are similar technologies, such as sessionStorage, a browser storage space that a website can use to keep temporary data while the tab stays open.

They fall into three groups:

  • Technical tools: needed for the website to work or to provide a service you have asked for. They do not require your consent.
  • Analytics cookies: measure how the website is used. Unless they are anonymised, they require consent.
  • Profiling cookies: track user behaviour to show targeted advertising. They always require consent.

Which cookies and tools this website uses

The website only uses the two first-party technical tools described in the table. First-party means they are set directly by this website, not by external services.

NameTypePurposeDuration
pw_sessFirst-party technical cookieKeeps your login session for the members area and the administration area, and protects their forms. It is set only when you open the login pages or log in, not while normally browsing the website.Session: deleted when you close the browser
pw_chatBrowser sessionStorage, first-party technical (not a cookie)Remembers your conversation with the virtual assistant as you move between pages. Its content is not sent to our servers unless you ask to be contacted.Until the browser tab is closed
pw_consentFirst-party technical cookieStores your cookie choices (which categories you accepted or rejected and when), so we do not ask again on every page and can prove consent if required.6 months, then we ask again

We use no traffic analytics tools, advertising pixels, tracking social buttons or embedded maps. Fonts are hosted on the website’s own server, so opening a page does not connect you to external services such as Google Fonts.

Third-party content in articles

Some articles may contain videos embedded from YouTube or Vimeo. In that case the cookie and privacy policies of those services apply, as they act as independent controllers:

  • YouTube (Google): policies.google.com/privacy
  • Vimeo: vimeo.com/privacy

Where possible, we embed videos in privacy-enhanced mode (for YouTube, the youtube-nocookie.com domain), which limits the cookies set until you start playback.

How to manage your preferences

On your first visit we show a banner with three equally prominent buttons: Accept all, Reject all and Customise. Closing the banner with the X counts as rejecting: only the necessary tools stay active.

With Customise you can choose category by category:

  • Necessary: always on, because the website needs them to work. They are the ones listed in the table above.
  • Preferences: remember choices that improve your experience.
  • Statistics: measure in aggregate form how the website is used.
  • Marketing: used to show relevant advertising and measure campaigns.

At the moment the website does not use any preference, statistics or marketing tools: these categories are ready but empty. If we ever switch one on, we will list it on this page and in the preferences panel and load it only after your consent.

Your choice lasts 6 months. You can change or withdraw it at any time from the Cookie settings link at the bottom of every page, or from here: open cookie preferences. Withdrawing consent does not affect anything done before.

This way of collecting consent follows the EU ePrivacy Directive (2002/58/EC), the GDPR and the Guidelines on cookies and other tracking tools issued by the Italian Data Protection Authority on 10 June 2021.

How to manage or delete cookies in your browser

You can view, block or delete cookies and site data at any time from your browser settings. Bear in mind that blocking the pw_sess technical cookie prevents access to the members area and the administration area, but makes no difference to ordinary browsing of the website. This is where to find the settings in the most common browsers:

  • Google Chrome: Settings, then Privacy and security, then Third-party cookies or Site data.
  • Mozilla Firefox: Settings, then Privacy & Security, then Cookies and Site Data.
  • Safari on Mac: Settings, then Privacy, then Manage Website Data. On iPhone and iPad: Settings, then Safari, then Advanced, then Website Data.
  • Microsoft Edge: Settings, then Cookies and site permissions, then Manage and delete cookies and site data.

Data saved in sessionStorage, such as the pw_chat conversation, is deleted automatically when you close the tab. You can also remove it by clearing site data in your browser settings. The pw_consent cookie with your choices stays until it expires after 6 months or until you delete it: after that, the banner will appear again.
